It’s official. Unofficial Mayor Peter Beers is leaving Moncton, New Brunswick. Peter has been the General Manager (GM) of Copart Moncton (Yard 206) since April 2015. During his time as GM, Peter made quite the impact, no pun intended, as he helped manage one of Copart’s first virtual sales: the Atlantic Canada Auction. This auction combined vehicles from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and became a huge success for Copart Canada.
Regional Manager of Eastern Canada Anthony Monas shared his favorite memory of Peter:
“One of my favorite Peter stories is the 2017 Copart Canada National Axe Throwing Cup. It was a big field of Copart contestants and Peter limped into the tournament having never thrown an axe before. He finished the round robin in 8th place, and it wasn’t until the elimination round where he found his groove. He made it all the way to the finals where he faced the number one seed in the tournament, his future boss, me. It was a hard-fought battle between us two, but Peter persevered and won. This was Peter’s first, and possibly only, championship and he made sure everyone knew about it for months!”
Anthony went on to say that “Peter isn’t just a fierce competitor, he is known to many as a gentle giant, who is kind, passionate, and a huge Cleveland Browns fan. He has been instrumental in Copart’s growth throughout Atlantic Canada and will be sorely missed. We wish him well and look forward to the next Copart Canada National Axe Throwing Cup where he can try and defend his title.”
The soon to be former Mayor of Moncton, Peter Beers has a wealth of experience as he has spent nearly 20 years in the auction industry stating, “there is not a job I haven’t done.” This rings true as Peter has done many charity auctions for hospitals, cancer research, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, as well as the Boys & Girls Club of Canada. In his spare time Peter enjoys Mexican cliff diving, full contact marbles, and fully believing he educates many on the golf course.
You may be wondering, why is the unofficial Mayor of Moncton leaving? Peter has accepted the position of General Manager at Copart Calgary in Alberta!
Regional Manager of Western Canada Andre Pereira said “We are excited to have Peter make his way west to bring his knowledge and experience to the team and assist in the preparation for the increased volumes expected in Alberta.”
Copart Calgary Assistant General Manager Cole Seguin echoed Andre’s comment stating, “We are excited to gain Peters knowledge and charisma out here!”
Copart Canada would like to take this moment to announce Peter’s official, unofficial Mayoral Campaign for Calgary.
Please join us in Congratulating Peter Beers on his new position.
