The well-being of its employees and customers is top priority for Copart. The company is ensuring locations are taking recommended safety and preventive measures in light of news of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
We will continue to keep Copart employees informed with new policies and guidelines from the CDC and WHO. Our locations currently remain open with safety policies such as no handshakes, no in-person meetings and maintaining a 6-ft distance from people at all times. We continue to serve our buyers through our 100% online auction site.
Here are the most recent Copart policies given the current circumstances:
Safe Distance/Online Meetings:
Avoid physical contact and maintain a safe distance from others when possible. For meetings or reaching out to a colleague, use online platforms like Microsoft Teams. Managers should schedule only necessary in-person meetings, in a safe location, during which all attendees must wear masks and maintain a safe distance.
Wear Masks in Common Areas:
For your and others’ safety, wear masks in all common areas including break rooms and bathrooms.
Cleaning and Sanitizing:
Frequently wipe down all commonly used surfaces like desks, counter tops and other high-traffic areas in the office or field. Gloves should be worn when making monetary transactions. Avoid touching your face. Sneeze and cough into your elbow. Please do your best to keep break rooms clean and free of clutter.
Stay Home When Sick:
For everyone’s safety, if a Copart employee is exhibiting symptoms that indicate they are sick, they must remain home or will be sent home by their manager. Employees should return to work only when they are symptom and fever free for more than 3 consecutive days or if they provide documentation from a medical professional that they are cleared to return to work.
Exposure & Testing:
You must not come to work if you have been knowingly exposed to someone who has recently tested positive for COVID-19. Please inform your manager if you have been exposed and won’t be coming to work.
If you have been tested for COVID-19, you are not permitted to return to work until you receive and produce your negative test results. Please inform your manager that you will not be coming to work if you were tested and do not have your results.
If exposed to COVID-19, you must stay home for 14 days as recommended by the CDC or be cleared by negative test results or physician documentation. In this case, it is best if you inform your manager and HR representative so they can help you determine next steps.
