As a veteran-owned business, Copart is always looking for ways to give back to the true American heroes who have already sacrificed so much for this country. Copart has partnered with Operation FINALLY HOME, the City of Irving and the Dallas Builders Association to provide a mortgage-free home to a very deserving military veteran, Major Eric King.
When Major King woke up on July 16, 2018, he had no idea that he would be receiving a home. Copart, Operation FINALLY HOME and other sponsors held a surprise groundbreaking ceremony in Irving, Texas on the lot where the home will be built.
“I’m speechless. I am mind blown. I can’t believe it,” said Major King.
Major King served 16 years in the United States Army and served two tours. King was injured in combat and now walks with the assistance of a cane. “I don’t deserve this. The real heroes do– and, unfortunately, they are not with us today,” said King.
Over 40 Copart employees attended the groundbreaking surprise to support Major King and his family.
“Being a part of Operation FINALLY HOME is such a small sacrifice compared to what Major King has sacrificed for his country,” said Morgan Lawrence, Communications Coordinator.
The King family’s new home will be a custom-built one-story house so that Major King will be able to move around easily.
Operation FINALLY HOME is a national nonprofit that builds custom homes for injured military veterans and widows of the fallen. Since 2005, the organization has built over 150 homes in 30 states.
