Copart Kansas City was proud to host a local Homeland Security Department and two of the dogs in its K-9 unit for detection training.
“The Regional Deputy Director of Operations came to us at Copart. Over 10 years ago, he worked in the narcotics division and had attended a K-9 training at a Copart location, and he reached out to see if we could do the same thing here,” said Kevin Heese, General Manager of Copart Kansas City. “We gave the team 30 vehicles, in a secured and secluded area, to allow training for their dogs. I’ve trained and worked with bird dogs for years and have always been fascinated by what they can do. This is no different; a dog’s ability to track a scent is phenomenal.”
The officers who attended were amazed at the amount of vehicles Copart Kansas City has, and were interested in learning more about Copart’s business, and the team at Copart was equally interested in Homeland Security’s K-9s.
Once they completed training, the officers came into the office and let everyone meet and pet the dogs, and GM Kevin Heese let them know that the doors are always open at Copart when it comes to supporting local and national law enforcement in training.
