Service Star Secrets Vol. 1

The Service Star award is a prestigious honor presented to Team Copart members who have gone above and beyond to provide 5-star service to Copart’s buyers and sellers. We’ve asked recent Service Star award winners to share what they think it takes to earn a Service Star nomination, and we’ll be sharing their answers over the coming weeks.

This week, Q1 Service Star award winners Brooke Symonds, Kristen Aguilar and Andrea Avila are sharing all the details Team Copart wants to know about how to become a Service Star.

Q. What three characteristics do you think someone needs to be a Service Star winner and why?
A. In my opinion, three characteristics a Team Copart member needs to be a Service Star are ambition, care, and a hardworking mentality.  These characteristics are necessary because they go hand-in-hand to help our vendors and customers with any questions they may have.

Q. Describe how it made you feel to have your 5-star service recognized by winning the Service Star award.
A. I was very surprised when I received this award. It brightened my day and put a smile on my face.

Q. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
A. If I could have any superpower, I would be able to be in multiple places at once. As a mom, there are days I would love to be at home spending time with my two-year-old.

Q. What three characteristics do you think someone needs to be a Service Star winner and why?
A. Three characteristics an employee needs to become a Service Star are patience, attitude and follow through. Use your patience to take the time to process the information you receive before taking any action on a situation. Always ask questions if you don’t know the process of something, and always read notes. Have a positive attitude. Always start the day with a positive outlook because others will absorb your positive energy, and the day will flow so much better. Following up on emails, requests and inquiries from customers is key. People will remember that you tended to their needs and will greatly appreciate it.

Q. Describe how it made you feel to have your 5-star service recognized by winning the Service Star award.
A. I was extremely surprised and humbled. It felt like I won a Grammy!

Q. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
A. I would want the ability to stop time, mainly so I can take more naps.

Andrea AvilaAndrea Avila, Customer Service Representative at Yard 6 and Service Star award winner.

A. Patience is key. You can’t rush the customer. Be attentive and pay attention to what the customer is saying. Answer the phone with a smile. The tone of your voice will make the customer feel like they are the only one that matters.

Q. Describe how it made you feel to have your 5-star service recognized by winning the Service Star award.
A. Being recognized by my peers felt amazing. I am proud of myself for achieving a goal I worked so hard for.

A. My superpower would be to know what customers need before they ask.
