On Friday, March 24, Copart UK team members from locations in Newbury, Peterlee, Rochford, Sandy, Sandtoft and Wootton provided lots of sweet and savory treats to sell at Red Nose Bake Sales, benefiting Comic Relief. The teams raised a grand total of £556.37.
The bake sale funds will go a long way to help, £500 can potentially help Comic Relief to do the following:
- Help five young homeless people in the UK pay for a month’s one-to-one support to help them access counseling, healthcare and education services
- Help three young people in Kenya to escape hazardous work by paying for their secondary school fees, books and stationary for a whole year
- Give two hours of childcare to eight mothers in the UK who are experiencing postnatal depression, so they can meet with a counselor and get vital support
The Red Nose Day site also lists other ways that charitable funds help support their cause.
At Copart Wootton, there was a bake-off competition with prizes awarded to Monika Kolesniak, Customer Service Representative, for her colorful and creative savory tarts, and to Ian McKenzie, Accounts Payable Team Member, for his amazing gingerbread cake – which you can see in the photo below was going very quickly!
A huge thank you to everyone who took part in either baking or buying, and those who helped raise money for Comic Relief.
