The Intern Insider: Marketing Edition

Within the past few years, the Copart Marketing Team ventured away from the sales department to stand alone and operate as its own department. Since the change, the marketing team has not looked back, and has proven to be a pivotal force to the company.

The marketing department is ultimately responsible for creating the ultimate buyer experience and moving members into the sales funnel. One way they perform these tasks are by personally working with the sales department, assisting in them in their efforts in bringing new business.

The marketing department itself is broken up into six teams; web, creative, brand, communications, advertising/buyer acquisition, and the CashForCars.com team. Everybody in the department works hard around the clock to ensure our members have the best experience when interacting with Copart, no matter what the platform.

Marketing emulates what the Copart culture is all about—bleeding blue, increasing revenue and having some fun along the way. The marketing team acts as Copart’s internal agency for all creative and marketing needs, and is always readily available to assist other departments in driving Copart forward.

Michelle Hoffman, Vice President of Marketing, had some high words for Jeff Johnston. Michelle praised his dedication to Copart, “Jeff started as an intern two years ago and has only been progressing upwards. He’s held multiple roles while maintaining his exemplary work ethic.” In addition to Jeff, Michelle credits the teams in the department for their outstanding efforts throughout the year.

Since venturing out on its own from the sales team, marketing has contributed big things to the company. Most notably, implementing the customer satisfaction surveys. Because of the surveys we were able to make operational and business changes to help the overall buying experience. Marketing is now working with launching the new website globally.

Meet Sebastian Piras, Brand Marketing Intern at Copart! Sebastian is a Dallas native and wouldn’t have it any other way. While he is currently pursuing a Marketing degree at the University of Texas at Dallas, he always makes time for sports and greatly enjoys the great outdoors.
