Copart supports our veterans and in living out our Values to Act with integrity, Be an owner, Challenge the norm, Get results, and Celebrate our people, Yard 60 participated in the Des Moines Ruck on April 9, 2016.
The Des Moines Ruck is an event held annually to raise awareness about soldier and veteran suicide. The event included about 200 participants, with some wearing rucksacks, an iconic strong and sturdy bag worn and carried by active duty military personnel, and uniforms. Others came without a rucksack and participated as general participants in the walk.
Participants from Yard 60 included Mark Dutcher (yard supervisor), Erin Crandall (dispatcher), and Ronnie Murray (Copart Member). Mark was a soldier for eight years with B Troop 1/113 Cavalry Iowa Army National Guard with two tours, Kosovo 2004 and Iraq 2007-2008. Erin’s husband served in the first major campaign in Iraq, Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield, and understands very well the effects of war. Ronnie served several years in the United States Air Force and is now director of the Veterans Empowerment Resource Center in an effort to help veterans connect with the correct people to help with any issues they may have.
All three Yard 60 participants have a connection to the issue of Veteran suicide as well as some of the major issues that both active duty soldiers and Veterans face on a daily basis. Mark, Erin and Ronnie are proud to represent Copart and continue to pledge their support to all soldiers and celebrate those who work at and do business with Copart.
