Copart Yard 3 in Hayward, California grew from 12 to 25 employees almost overnight, and General Manager Miranda Holloway wanted to welcome the new team members while preserving the family feel at their location.
Holloway started the relationship building by continuing with the monthly potlucks and yard outings that the Hayward Location had as a tradition. They were such a hit, once Miranda became GM, she wanted to keep these potlucks and other yard outings, like cookouts, hiking, and events at the local bowling alley and skating rink, a regular event.
“It has been really cool to see these events bring everyone together, and now Copart really does feel like our home away from home,” said Michael Tovar, assistant general manager at Yard 3. “Miranda is always looking out for our best interest, and everyone sees that daily.”
The monthly potlucks have become such a hit, Holloway and Tovar sometimes ask applicants what they would make for a potluck.
Since Copart is their home away from home, the team has started a bulletin board in the breakroom with all of the photos they’ve taken at these events.
