I did my internship in the System Engineering/ DevOps team at Copart. My team was working on managing the Copart’s infrastructure and our goal was to help automate the web app deployment process and building environments for the developers.
Since my work dealt with servers, I was given access a lot of access for working on incredible projects. Working with the experienced professionals and cutting edge technology such as Ansible is what one would have asked who is aiming his career in Sever Admin / DevOps.
I liked that all my teammates were very accessible every time and ready to help whenever I got stuck. I found the idea of having scrum meetings as a good way to track down the progress and back logs when working in a team.
The open office culture here at Copart allowed me to interact with other employees and also mirrors how open the company is internally. The small breaks in pantry and lunch with other teams gave me a chance to interact with other interns and what they were working on.
I can relate few of my computer science courses on Data Structures and Cloud Computing were directly to the work I did at Copart. I had some coding experience through my academic courses, which was taken to the next level through my industry experience at Copart. I also learned some new languages like Python and Perl and explored there power in the server technologies.
It was a summer well spent (invested) at Copart. I’m very grateful for what I’ve learned at Copart and I am sure that this experience will help me in my future endeavors as well. I am hopeful I will use my summer experience to be an asset for the company while I extend my internship in the fall.
